Czubkowski was requested to respond in regard to Min ing electrical components (motors, wiring, insulation, etc.). Mr. Czubkowski's response is attached. Mechanically, the only asbestos product that has been used on mining equipment were asbestos brake linings, which were the industry standard. About 2 years ago, asbestos brake linings were superseded by non-asbestos material. As of Oc tober 1985, all asbestos lining material in Mining Equipment had been super seded. <r Three different types of brake linings were involved: flexible woven band brake linings (for older, non-production machines), molded shoe linings for drum brakes, and molded linings for propel brakes.
