The results of the x-ny examinations performed between August and September of 1?7S have been received in this office and reviewed by the physicians in our Plant Health Jcrvlcos Section* In tills report, 25 cases of "diffuse nodular opacities suggestive of pneumoconiosis or silicosis" 'wore noted.
We would like to know the name, ago, work history of these employeos to learn whether or not those reported changes aro of recent origin. We are also interested in knowing the results of their lung function 3tudie3, if such tests have boon conducted.

Dear Dr. Lieben:
I respectfully request that chest X-rays be taken of welders ana other employees in the car shop at the Bethlehem Steel Company, Franklin Division, Johnstown, Pennsylvania. My reason for this request is that there is evidence of emphysema to a large degree. I also sincerely request that your findings be held confidential between the State and the individual's doctor.
The next problem concerns the locker rooms in the blast furnace department. 1 have met with Mr. R. E. Taylor, Management Representative in Johnstown, and I made nersonal inspection of these locker rooms and washing facilities, and 1 will tell you the same thing I have told Mr. Taylor. These locxer rooms, toilet, and washing facilities are below sub-standard, I would say they are much below your 1961: edition of "Regulations for Industrial Sanitation".
Therefore, I ur.m you to make inspection of these areas while tne erudciyees are chan inr turns. I could elaborate furtner on these conditions, out I would rather you or members of your staff observe for themselves, and not be influenced by any Jescrintion I may submit.
