Kennedy ENVIRONMENTAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR 1982 AND OBJECTIVES FOR 1983 - VINYL 1 t Accomplishments in 1982 to reduce personnel exposures were: 1. Vent Condenser Recovery on T-26A&B, T-ll, T-300-301, and T9 aid 10. 2. Modified padding of T-14 and T-8 to reduce turbulance in vapor space. 3. Redesign of pump seals on EDC and Beta-Tri pumps to reduce seal leaksr. 4. Installed new CL2 probes on VS-100, VS-200 which helps detect free CL2 levels in vent stacks. 5. Burning of organic waste (V-14 material) in B-200 to help eliminate the problem of tote bins full of organics waiting to be pumped to solvents. 6. Replaced K-15 Suction Relief Valve with rupture disc and Safety Valve. Primary objective for 1983 is continued reduction of exposure to Vinyl and EDC. To do this we must: 1. Continue personnel and area sampling to track problems. 2. Put more emphasis on exposure to EDC and Beta-Tri on equipment opening, Exchangers, Reboilers, etc. I > l\ 3. Install tank in 1-inge between C6A&B and C8C to help prevent safety valve release, 4. Install Vent condenser on t-8 and T-14, and T-6. 5. Install 02 and CO analyzers on B-100 and B-200 for more efficient combustion of organics. 6. Install safetyvaTvesG 8dTRTta^ companv "` ; Accomplishments in X9S2 to reduce noise levels were: rd^n 1. Blower gua BL100 and BL200. 2. Replaced T-ll Control Valve with Rotary Valve. 3. Replaced D-7A Suction pressure C/V with a flow-wing Rotary Valve.
