Weber \ yv. \- n V. - f /<>y/ Subject Semi-Annual Asbestos Monitoring v//..' ;7" \\ V' The laboratory results for the semi-annual asbestos monitoring samples collected at the Argyle Road plant on March 22, 1977, have been re ceived. .The results show no concentrations in excess of a 2.0 fiber/ cc level. The sample results are as follows: Excello Automatic Drill (Brian Beaunne) t 0.77 fibers/cc Grinder #3 (Diane Jacques) 0.14 fibers/cc Riveting 85 (Susan Dobsky) 0.49 fibers/cc Bag Collector Cleaning (Gary Knuckle) 0.09 fibers/cc The results from the Bag Collector Cleaning operation indicate an em ployee exposure well below the 2.0 fiber/cc level. However, this re sult does not accurately assess the problems being experienced with asbestos waste disposal or environmental protection. A continuing effort must be made to implement controls which will assure emissions to the atmosphere are at the lowest possible level. If I can be of assistance in this matter, please contact me. Finally, solvent samples were collected at the Prince Road plant. The results are as follows: Vapor Degreaser (TLV = 100 PPM) 0.17 PPM Trichloroethylene Spray Painting Backing Plates Trichloroethylene TLV 100 PPM,Concentration ** 2.42 PPM Toluene TLV = 100 PPM,Concentration *=> 5.70 PPM Xylene TLV = '00 PPM,Concentration =* 20.81 PPM The results indicate employee .-rposures well within established limits. I suspect the trichloroethylen . at the spray painting operation is carry-over from the degteaser.
