Use Of Blow Back Pots 1.0 Objective: 1.1 To safely return residual product from maintenance jobs, sampling, drain outs, etc. Without spillage or damage to the environment. 2.0 Responsibility: 2.1 It is the responsibility of the operations personnel to ensure that this procedure is complied with at all times. 2.2 It is the responsibility of the operations personnel to adhere to this procedure at all times. 3.0 Special Notations: 3.1 Blow back pots are on DV-243A, DV-113, and DV-114. These pots should be blown empty immediately after product is poured in them. 3.2 Be sure you are using: DV-243A for amines, DV-113 for EB and DV-114 for PM products. 4.0 Safety Notations: 4.1 Monogoggles, rubber gloves and block safety equipment are required for this job. 4.2 Prior to starting job check valving to insure that blowback pot is depressured. 5.0 Procedure: 5.1 If funnel valve is closed, slowly open. 5.2 Pour product into pot thru funnel (no more than one 2.5 gallon bucket at a time) 5.3 Close the funnel valve and bleed valve, then slowly open the nitorgen valve to pressure product to tank. Close inlet valve to the crude tank after pot is empty and before blocking in the nitrogen to pot. 5.5 Bleed pressure from pot through pot bleed valve.
