In a recent article you noted: "Monsanto Company has halted production of PCBs." This is incorrect. Monsanto Company still produces PCB, but several years ago we initiated a control program which stopped all sales of this product to uses where the material could not be contained. Today, Monsanto sells PCB only to the electrical industry where the material is contained in electrical components such as transformers and capacitors and where strict controls are maintained both by Monsanto and by the manufacturers of the equipment. The continued use and control of PCB has been well publicized in the past and endorsed by both the U.S. government task force, appointed to study this environmental issue, and by the worldwide OECD countries, which have adopted a similar control program.
