My WISE interns come here from a variety of universities throughout the USA to learn about science policy and during the 6-week program, they are funded and sponsored by various national standards organizations, such as AIChE, ASTM, ANS, ASHRAE, IEEE, etc. This year there are 10 of them, all with varied backgrounds but all interested in science and technology policy, e.g. renewable energy generation, energy storage, sustainable energy, clean technology, medical imaging, water quality, high level waste disposal, international development etc. Their main objective is to write a research paper that provides an up-to-date analysis of a current issue in public policy which centers around scientific or technological developments. During their stay, they act as essentially investigative reporters, trying to collect information from as many people and places as possible. My request to you or whomever is the appropriate contact at EPA, is to arrange a meeting with the Administrator or other leadership and the interns to tell them about the EPA mission, what you do and perhaps give them a tour so they become acquainted with how the work at EPA on science and technology intersects with public policy. I am suggesting a meeting some morning in June after June 8, 2017, but I am willing to work with you to 17cv01906 Sierra Club v. EPA ED 001523B 00006469-00002 find a good date/time during their stay here. I may be reached by e-mail or at the phone number below. If you have questions or require additional information, please let me know. Thank you for your consideration.
