Air monitoring of asoestos started. Aug. 23, 1966 Letter from Dr. Stopps to Dr. Neeld received. " Fifty-two pipecoverers' records reviewed. No concern for cancer found. Validity of physical examination findings and x-ray reports inconclusive because of lack of smoking history, exposure records, and control group. Advises various representatives meet with Dr. Pell to outline an appropriate asbestos study. Nov. 8, 1966 Letter received from Dr. D'Alonzo. 1. Asbestos questionnaire received asking for a list of all employees exposed to asbestos. 2. Pulmonary function test - Chambers works to be pilot plant in obtaining data from new pulmonary function machine and share results with remainder of the Company. Nov. 15, 1966 Asbestos survey undertaken by Construction ( L. V. Thatcher). Dec. 9, 1966 Questionnaire (of above) answered and returned to Dr. D'Alonzo. March, 1974 Medical reminder from Industrial Hygiene supervision sent to Construction and Engineering highlighting all OSHA responsibilities of areas dealing with asbestos and how these parallel Du Pont Engineering Standards. . Nov., 1978 Asbestos program informational letter to all Chambers Works employees developed. Fall, 1978 Non-Du Pont radiologist reading of x-rays began. Spring, 1978 Asbestos Program as now know.n initiated: Work history Pulmonary specialist, etc. BAX BSI Etc.
