Dr. Willard F. Machle,
Dear Bill,
While in Norfolk last Saturday 1 again contacted Dr. Woods and Mr. Alverson of the insurance compary and I am giving below just what they had to say.
Statement by Dr. Woods Is coming along very well and has had no flare up
in over two weeksVrhey have him working around the ward waiting on and helping other patients. Dr. Woods believes it best to keep him in the hospital for at least a couple of weeks more in order to build up his hemoglobin, he feels that if they reAlease him they may not he able to get him to the office for treatments. A short time ago the count was down to 49 and they now have it up to 60.
Statement by Mr. Alverson He is handling the Dewberry suit and he advised that he was
in touch with the lawyer about a week ago and requested that Dewberry be given an examination by a Dr. ff.B.Martin to which the lawyer agreed*
According to Alverson Dr. Martin is very thorough afad has a very complete private laboratory and should be able to give a very complete examination. As soon as Alverson receives the report from Dr. Martin ne stated he would forward a copy of same to you.
At present I am working up that data on the sludge samples but am finding it quite hard to get accurate information on account of the elapsed time since the samples were collected.

For your information I am enclosing a report I have just prepared regarding a recent survey of all spiked and blending tanks markings, cleanings etc. I wanted to make this more elaborate but having to do my own typing I decided to make it concise as possible* I will admit that part of the picture is not as pretty as it should be and my friend (?) Dees is really trying to make a show of it. I do not need alibis but I can assure you that both barrels are loaded for the rebuttal if and when it becomes necessary- after his being Div. Mgr for one year and his assistant making

Fagg 2 and finding everything OK and his reports showing the same as mine haa I think he better use discretion in iiis accusations or they may bounce and strike back.
I just received word this AM that Lou Shank became tne proud father of a 63; pound boy last night, I believe you will remember Lou as he was formerly Div. Mgr here in Balto*
As yet I have had no definite word when I am to leave these diggings for the Seattle Div. but I am now breaking in a new Safety Eng. He is Jack Maynard and was formerly Automotive Eng. on our Clinic. If I drive West I shall make it a point to stop off in Cincinnati on the way.
I have been wondering if you have deciphered anything more on that fancy rule, but I imagine you all have ueen ratner busy these past few weeks with all the things that have been popping.
With kindest personal regards,
Z. x
