Re: TSCA 8(e) Substantial Risk Notice: Supplemental to Docket No. 8EHQ-0598373; Sulfonate-based and Carboxylic-based Fluorochemicals
To whom it may concern:
3M is submitting this notice to supplement its previous submissions on sulfonate-based and carboxylic-based fluorochemicals.
3M recently generated data, on behalf of the National Park Service, showing detectable
levels of the fluorochemicals in blood samples collected from nestling bald eagles^bf the
Mississippi and St. Croix River Valleys of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
-
These data were generated as part of an inter-laboratory study, sponsored by the National
Park Service, where common samples were split and sent to three independent labs for
fluorochemicals analysis. To 3M's knowledge, data from the other two participating
laboratories have not yet been generated.
-
We are notifying the EPA of these data to fulfill our TSCA 8(e) reporting obligations, and will provide a copy of the complete final report (compiling data from all three laboratories) once it is made publically available by the National Park Service. If desired, the EPA can request draft data from the National Park Service prior to our final report submission.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Deanna Lubker,
3M TSCA 8(e) Coordinator, at (651) 737-1374 or diluebker@mmm.com.
