The nature and magnitude of the work, however, make it impossible for the Publisher to guarantee complete accuracy. Introduction ACKGROUND andard & Poors hegister of ^corporations, Directors, and Executives was first published in 1928 by the then or's Publishing company. At that time the Register represented the first major publishing effort in providing national Pirectory of Directors' covering the entire United States. Today, with this its 53rd publication, &P's Register is generally acknowledged as being the foremost guide to the business community and the ecvitives who run it It has since its inception maintained a progressive program for refinements and addi3 to its data and has in a sense reached out beyond the scope of a national publication with the inclusion Canadian businesses and major international corporations. This has been done in recognition of the need business people worldwide to reach the individuals who make '"buying" decisions. Within its pages, the e9is^er provides the richest market in the world for whatever product, proposition or service is being offered. ndicative of S&P's continuing efforts to enhance the usefulness of the Hegister is the inclusion in this 2980 dition of a new feature: the name(s) of the exchange(s) on which a company's stock is traded. RRANGEMENT of DATA &P's Register has been designed to provide easy access for whatever reference is being made. It is arranged three volumes and also includes cumulative supplements. All of the indexes have been consolidated into olume III for ease of use with either Volume I or Volume II. olume I--Corporate listings. Many companies have multiple listings in this section depending on the various industrial activities in which the com pany is engaged. Section 3--Geographic Index (Buff Pages) lists com panies appearing in the Register geographically by states and by major cities. Business names are in alphabetical sequence.
