Gostylo Date Subject January 20, 1978 VCM Loading Procedures and Mechanical Revisions - Comments Mechanical Comments: 1) We would like to have a valve at the end of the 1/4" stainless steel hose which leads to the sight flow indicator in the sample system. 2) We do not want 1/4" connections anywhere on the loading nipples. If at all possible, the sample connections should be moved to the loading and vent arm racks where they would be more accessible and less likely to be broken off. Also, we suggest going to at least 1/2" connections. 3) We do.not want a right angle vent nipple since there probably is not enough room to screw the entire nipple on in one step ' without pinching fingers, and putting it on one section at a time simply creates more points for leakage. - Procedural Comments: The general concensus here at the plant is to have the Shift Supervisor finalize the railcar loading procedures using your preliminary report as the starting point. Considering the great detail required in such an operat ing procedure, we feel that it is somewhat futile to have anyone that is not involved with the operation daily attempt to perfect it.
