INTEROFFICE fflfc PPG INDUSTRIES LAKE CHARLES TO: Distribution fj FROM: Johnny StephensonM^y*'' 'J DATE: January 17, 1991 SUBJECT: Prooosed EDC Vessel Clearing System Currently, a project is being developed to meet the new federal requirements for personnel exposure to EDC. The new exposure limit will be 1 ppm. One area being addressed is the clearing of process vessels for opening for maintenance. Various options have been reviewed with the attached system being the option of choice. The theory of operation is that for pressure vessels (filters, driers, etc.) the pressure on the vessel would be drooped to a vacuum, therefore flashing the residue EDC In the vessel. Attached for your review and comment is a "preliminary" P&ID. Before the system reaches an ORC review, I would like input to the proposed design. What is prooosed is based on what is currently being done in the complex for clearing refrigeration equipment. Your prompt reply would be appreciated. : cc: Roy Sanders Vern Morgan Pancho Ortiz Doug Johnson Nelson Perez Richard Andersen Jim Rock P-3097 SL 072096 VENT HEADER HOSE GROUND KNOCKOUT POT i .
