(1) Our decision relative to the TML Air Sampling Program on the West Coast (2) Our continued support of your work on lead compounds at Kettering Laboratory and (3) Support for the building of new laboratory facilities at Kettering. ' The first question I discussed with you over the telephone, stating that we would go along with the program as outlined in your memorandum, with the suggestion that after the first month we review the data and determine the need for sampling every week. George Kirby and I discussed this subject at the API Refining Meeting and he agreed with our thinking on this and undoubtedly has contacted you since then. Since our participation in the TML and TEL Air Sampling Program is now reasonably well-defined, we can inform you that we will continue support of the work you are doing at Kettering on the overall subject of lead toxicology. Last year we contributed $25,000 to your program and we propose contributing a like figure this year. Accordingly, please follow last year's pattern and submit your bill quarterly. Because of Mr. Baker's heavy schedule, he was unable to meet with you to review your building program plans before your trip to Europe. When you return from your visit, please advise us and we shall attempt to set a mutually satisfactory date for this discussion. Early this week, Vernon McKenzie of the Public Health Service was in Wilmington and stated that their plans for the collection of air samples for lead analysis was progressing according to schedule. He expressed disappointment at the relatively small interest expressed by industries other than the TEL manufacturers, but apparently this will in no way hamper their plans. He has not yet called a meeting of the working group, principally to give other industries an opportunity to indicate their interest in cooperating in this program, but apparently he intends to do this in the near future.
