You will note in my letter to Ur. J. A. Scharwath that I told him that you will get In touch with him on your next trip to New York, which 1 understand will be within a week or ten days. We consider this matter important enough for you to investigate the activity of the lawyer bringing this sultj the origin of the suit; whether the lawyer Is employing runners to sign up plaintiffs for him; what the medical evidence is regarding the plaintiff referred to; If this man is now or has ever worked for us, and so far as you are able to determine If this lawyer, or his runner, has contacted ary of our former employees at Jersey City, or any of our present employees. It has been necessary in our operation at Jersey City to reorganize the personnel, which has resulted in dismissal and replacement of certain of the markers; and with the more efficient operation of this plant further reduction of the operating personnel may be necessary. You will recall the details of Dr. Gardner's survey at Jersey City, and for this reason we must recognize the vulnerable position we are in as regards this plant.
