A female applicant at the Perryville plant, when advised of our current position in regards to employment in regulated areas, requested in a rather belligerent fashion a written copy of our policy regarding non-employment of females in production areas. She was advised the substance of the following paragraph which we have provided to our employment interviewer and. receptionist: ."Because of the question of a possible health hazard associated with long-term exposure to vinyl chloride including the possibility of genetic effects^il the question is resolved, we are not hirinftrfienSKe^Sor work in production areas. As detailed in numerous correspondence, our policy refers to regulated areas; however, all production workers may at some point in time be required to work in regulated areas, therefore, the employment of females in laboratory or janitorial positions does not isolate them from exposure to regulated areas- I would appreciate your reviewing the above information with the necessary individuals and advising us as to whether we should provide our policy as stated above in writing upon request, and if not, what approach or wording should be used.
