We have always emphasized oertaln factors in Therminol FR systems to minimize or eliminate leakage so that operating personnel are not exposed to hot fluid or vapors.
This emphasis must be reenforced with the user, the OEM's and with the design people. Our objective 1b the elimination, or containment and collection of leakage from Therminol FR systems.
In addition we must oontrol the disposal of any Therminol FR collected from leakB or from the change out of the fluid in the system.
The following is proposed as a means for eliminating the release of any Therminol FR from a system so that the fluid does not
"\ become an Environmental containment) ">

Generally there are four sources for leaks In a system
t
.Fittings -- weld all connections and flange those fittings where accessibility is desired.
.Pump Seals -- enoourage use of canned pumps. Mechanical Beals are a secondary choice. If they are used then enclose seal or^ provide^lrip pan with a drain to a collection sump.
.Seal at the heat using equipment -- stipulate that all drains
be dlreoted to a collection sump. Install drip pans at rotary Joints.
.Expansion Tank Vent -- stipulate that vent be directed to a oold seal tank, or catch pot or drum to contain vapor
condensation and contain light ends.

The control, collection and disposal of leakage is primarily the
users responsibility. We must make him aware of this responsibility
and of our desire to work with him.

Advise your sales correspondent and W. E. Gordon in Distribution that material is being returned for disposal. In this way the proper papers can be prepared and the user invoiced for this disposal service. The charge for this disposal is $.03/lb. The user pays the cost of the drums and the freight.

The heat transfer system oan generally be considered a closed 'system. Leakage oan be easily controlled, collected and disposed; The user must be made aware of this.
general
The Therminol FR systems are usually the vital part of a process, and the user has decided to protect his Investment and his personnel by using a fire resistant fluid.
There Is a very strong cooperative atmosphere and working relation ship with our Therminol FR users and prospeots. They need and want the protection afforded by a fire resistant fluid, they want a leak free system and good labor relations and consequently will design a .leak free system -- your customer will appreciate your Interest and will know that he has and will continue to have the best possible protection with a fire resistant fluid.
