In Mr.House's letter o f February 23rd, he reports that to provide respirators and masks as recommended by Mr.Seniff would cost about *465.00. No estimate was made of the cost of making the other changes recommended. We cannot afford to spend any money at this time which is not absolutely // i essential and I would now like your joint recommendation, in /' r view o f the changed conditions, as to spending any o r all of this money. "ith our reduced shop operations, probably Mr.Seniff'a estimate of the number of respirators and masks needed would be greatly reduced. I wish Hr.House would also give consideration to the /> suggestions made in Mr.Chinn's letter o f April 27th, with respect /' to spray painting our locomotives o n the outsids to reduce the hazard, and the cost or providing special facilities. Mr.House should also look into the matter of providing ventilated hoods used for babbitting and brazing operations, adopted by the Milwaukee, as referred to in the last paragraph of Mr.Chinn's rva letter. I particularly desire to know how far you think we // Should go at this time in providing the equipment and making the / changes referred to in Mr.Seniff's letter, and what part of it can be postponed for the time being. *9 3
