SCOPE To define the minimum required personal protective equipment for employee protection within the Georgia Gulf Aberdeen Plant, and to satisfy the requirements of the OSHA Standard on Personal Protective Equipment, 29 CFR 1910.132. II. PURPOSE This policy covers the Aberdeen Plant's minimum personal protective protective equipment requirements for employer-provided equipment, PPE design criteria, hazard assessment, equipment selection and use, defective and damaged equipment, and training of PPE users. This policy applies to personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, extremities, protective clothing, and respiratory devices, protective shields and barriers, and fall protection. III. RESPONSIBILITIES A. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Devices or clothing worn by individuals to help protect them from direct exposure to chemicals and physical hazards. Examples include gloves, respirators, hard hats, etc. IV. POLICY A. Personal protective equipment (PPE) shall be provided and used wherever hazards exist or potentially exist that are capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body. PPE shall be used, stored, and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition.
