PPG We have been able to produce in the plant a batch with extremely low Lead and Acetate Ion concentrations and low ' conductivity. Oil absorption was 14.2. This may be accept' able to PPG, and should be offered to them. Particle size distribution measurements have failed to shed any light on the technique needed to control oil absorp tion. This may be because the instrument used cannot detect particles smaller than one micron. We have confirmed that lab batches of Carbonate cannot be used to predict oil absorption of plant produced material. 2. PANTASOTE - BLACK SPECKS Cyastab 908 was not run immediately after the dryer repair and clean-out as planned. 918 and 800 were run before the 908. Both the 800 and 908 had some black specks. This is consistent with the theory that the specks are caused by burnt 9p|p^but far from conclusive. , Cl6se monitoring of the P & S Dryer by lab personnel has found nothing else to account for the black specks . Of the four lots of 908 packed out in this most re cent run, one would most likely have been acceptable to Pantasote, two were questionable, and one definitely un accept able . NA 839 REV. 4-82 4-82 CYWI 1-000098 3. EXTRUCTOR 2 Shipped 31k lbs of Extrudates to Maroon, Flex, and Kappus. Both Cerock and Flex have reported that our Extrudates have run well. We have obtained 1mm drills to use in keeping the die. holes clear. This appears to be a significant factor in limiting the percent oversize produced. B. PLANT GENERAL Nothing to report C. COMPLAINTS The one complaint outstanding last month (PA 84-26, Teknor Apex was found to be justified.
