DC Contactors ' Power Limit Switches
BiT>N
A number of design improvements have been in process over the past two years'on the C80 line of DC contactors. These changes include the following:
C-
Attached is a print of Photo No. C8Q P-1, which shows our contactor with the new, non-asbestos arc shields. In addition to eliminating asbestos bearing parts, the new arc shields are much less susceptible to cracking in shipment and in senrice.
Oil impregnated bushings will be supplied at both the armature and contact lever pivot points. This eliminates the possibility of friction build-up as a result of dust or aein atmospheres, and removes the need for periodic oiling at these locations.
Contactor main operating coils, which have been epoxy resin encapsulated for many years, are now black instead of blue, and are more shiny in appearance. Coil part numbers will not change. All coils are class H rated (155 C. rise over a 40 c. ambient temperature), but normal operating temperature rise is approximately 7(r C.
The auxiliary contacts now include graphite lubricating material. This educes the loading on the contactor mechanism and substantially mproves auxiliary contact life in adverse atmospheres.
