It is most important that every effort should be made to determine whether vinyl chloride is likely to have caused these deaths. 1. Was their cancer typical of PVC - apparently not. 2. What was their work and health history? Are there other possible explanations? 3. How great and how long was the likely exposure? Was PVC really used in the plant? A house located downwind a short distance from a large source could have had significant exposure. CDC or NIOSH should develop this information as rapidly as possible and make , it available.
