I was s o m e w h at c o n c e r n e d regarding the p o s s i bility of toxic exposure of to A v i a t i o n Petrol. Ha is the M e c h a n i c at oi;r office at the Airp o r t an d as suc h is f r e q u e n t l y w o r k i n g on the P u m p i n g M e c h a n i s m s in the tank trucks and in addition to this exoosure to A v iation Petrol, he was in the habit of using this Petrol as a cleansing agent for small parts, etc. It is e s t i m a t e d p r i o r to c o r r e c t i o n of the situation, this m a n fs h a n d s were in contact w i t h the A v i a t i o n Petrol, 5^ - 7 5 5 of his working time. Blood smears taken and examined locally in the l a b o r a t o r y of Dr. 0. C. Trainer, s h o w e d some stippling. U r i n a r y lead det e r m i n a t i o n done at E s s o Labo r a t o r i e s showed a b o r d e r line high (0.107 mg. Pb/Liter) lead content. This situation was d i s c u s s e d w i t h you' at the time of y o u r visit to W i n n i p e g about September, 1952, and at thsrt^rime, yo u offered to have the above estimations performed o n ^ H H i and suggested that you send con tainers for similar estimations to be done on our TEL exposed employees at the Winnipeg R e f i n ery. The r e s u l T s on Mi*, ere also no t s i g n i f i c a n t and w o u l d indicate that the had been no recent occupational exposure of any significance. V.'e v.ouId like to k n o w for our records if those samples arc submitted only as a routine check on the men who have some possibility of lead absorption or whether there was for some reason or other a knowledge of some possibility of an actual exposure.
