Inspections of early Eaton installations of 3030-67 and E145A on new trailer axles are being scheduled at Certified Grocers, Shipper's Rental, and Amcap.
Customer Programs
Ford - Engineering specification test procedures for the final approval of the crowned brake shoe have been completed. Summarized results have been supplied to Ford. A complete, detailed report will be submitted when dynamometer and structures test reports are finalized. All brake assembly part numbers required for this change have been released.
Assisted Ford Engineering and Field Service personnel in the installation of prototype noise suppression kits on a CL-90QO tractor operated by Caldwell Freight Lines. As indicated as a possibility to Ford prior to the trip, kits were not effective In this case. However, due to the sensitivity of their Field Service organization to this problem, the vehicle has been returned to Galesburg for further analysis.
Completed the release of all part numbers required for Ford release of nonasbestos linings. Releases for Ford program to remove slack adjusters from brakes, as purchased from Eaton, is now in progress.
Dustshield problems:
Rear: Awaiting sourcing of heavier dustshield design by Purchasing to resolve Ford in-plant handling problems.
Front: Awaiting quoting of heavier, modified dustshield for resolution of similar problem on 15" x A". Potential exists for this configuration to also resolve IHC problem with exterior lip hazard.
Freiohtliner - Continued review of customer proposal for creation of 17" x 8" brake. Program for joint development of a "first hardware", prototype test phase to ba generated and presented to Freightliner management.
General Motors - Met with new QIC Engineering personnel assigned to the coordinated chassis program to review existing and new brake component requirements. New designs required for the 5,000 kg axle, the derated 6,610 kg axle, and the 9,090 kg axle. Layouts and prototype hardware for fitup studies are planned.
Initiated prototype brake build for F-070 axle mockup. Recent changes to the steer arm may alleviate problems with dustshield and bracket interferences.
Approved GMC request for crowned brake for Installation on 250 vehicle build for Anchor Motor Freight. This build will proceed the official approval of the crowned brake by GMC as dynamometer testing/extrapolation to Q*1C parameters is not yet complete.
