RE: Pydraul AC
Wa have an Installation of ten (10) Chicago Pneumatic Air Compressors, which are their model 34% x 34% x 27" O.D.E. Each compressor la a single stage unit discharging at approximately 40 psig, having a capacity of 8100 scfm. These units are used to supply airfcr antibiotic production through fermentation. We are considering the use of your Pydraul AC lubricant on these compressors due to the fine results reported by our Vigo plant, which now uses this lubrication on compressors in similar service. However, In considering this, we need Information which is not contained in the bulletins describing this material.
First, we are wondering what your comments would be on the use of this material as a cylinder lubricant only, while us ing a petroleum product for crank case lubrication. The reason we would want to do this Is that It would be diffi cult to obtain the shutdown time necessary to remove all the paint from compressor crank cases, as we understand would be necessary In this case. We believe that, If we do this, there would be a small amount of contamination from the cylinders Into the crank case, even though the area around the piston rod Is open. It would, therefore, be necessary

to know whether amall amounts of Pydraul AC would be com patible with our present crank case lubrication which U Gulf Harmony 69. Secondly, we would like to know the _ exact nature of the toxic breakdown product which has been refcrre3 to In literature concerning this material. We are particularly Interested In this because It is our understanding Chat this material will not support bacterial
. If this is true, it would possibly be the main ' reason for our use of the material in our plant, as our Fermentation people are particularly interested In eliminat ing this contamlnatIon of filters and tanks with lubricating oil carryover.
Very truly yows,
