Schneider mri-- EVALUATION OF THE PRESENT USE OF A HALOGENATED HYDROCARBON ANALYZER TO MONITOR VAPOR CONCENTRATIONS OF VINYL CHLORIDE AND/OR VINYLIDENE CHLORIDE WITHIN THE WORK ENVIRONMENT OF VlV2 SHRINK RESINS PRODUCTION PLANT, BUILDINGS 364, 565 INFORMATIVE SUMMARY WITH CONCLUSIONS A halogenated hydrocarbon analyzer has been used by the V1V2 Shrink Resins Production Plant since January 1968 to monitor the concentrations of vinyl chloride and/or vinylidene chloride in the working environment. A recent evaluation of the use of the analyzer indicated only four of twelve available air sampling points are used for monitoring the working environ ment. Time-weighted average exposures to vapors of vinyl chloride and/or vinylidene chloride encountered by operators could not be accurately determined. There is a need to utilize available air sampling lines to better define the operators' exposures. Consideration should be given to having the informa tion processed by computer analysis in order to have a daily record of time-weighted average exposures. ISSUED TO jmd W. H.
