(a) RT-505-D was rostandarditod in tho plant to the darker K-2154 type* Lot 46014, whieh eas aet up aa atandardv eoaaieta of about 60j K-2154 type, and 4OjC old RT-505-D. It la quite eloae tinotarially to a semL-works standard approved by the cuatomer*
(b) A non, large-slM (3*60 aola} formula, K-2240, was Witten based on K>2154, modified on tho basis of plant experience, to giro n Batch for the near standard* The new formula differs from K-193&, which it replaces, in batch also, in a reduced amount of B81 in tho diaxe, and a corresponding reduction of alkali in the base* An inoreaao in MNPA over the K-1936 amount, used during development, was found unnecessary as plant experience increased, and was eliminated
in tho K-2240 formula.

Six batches and a mix were made in the semi-works, after which the K-2154 formula was written* Based on laboratory work with known toluidine variables, and starting with the K-1936 formula, reduction of HOI in tho diaxo, increase in batoh sibo and oonoentratioa, elimination of para soap, and inerdass in HNRA wwo incorporated into the final formula*

During plant development, twenty-one batehoon tho K-2154 formula, and one shading batch on the old formula, were made* All plant batches on tho K-2154 formula were dark, weak and blue, against the old RT-505- standard* Three of tho first four were nixed with old typo ST-505*1, and tho mix sot up aa a new standard* Subsequent production wao varied to natch tho no* standard by changes in the temperature of coupling, and finally by a decrease in tho PA oontent from 15 to 13.5*.
Tho process was turned over to the plant on a trial basis, and the batch site iaereaaed from 2*0 to 3*4 aola, with generally satisfactory rssults* The present standard formula, K-2240, was then written, and the problem closed out*
