My only excuse Is that I have been very busy. X hasten to reply to your second letter and to send to you under separate cover a series of the publications of the laboratory with regard to lead. X must call your attention to certain omissions which result from the fact that certain of our articles have been completely exhausted. Thus X have no reprints of an article "On Tetraethyl Lead Poisoning" (a clinical paper) which appeared In the Journal of the American Medical Association - Volume 85 ** Page 108 - July 1925. It may be that Mr. Bevan has an extra copy of this, in which case if you want it, you 3hould obtain It at once before his supply Is also exhausted. Other reports which are not available at present are as follows: (1) the first report on the examination of men exposed to leaded gasoline, made by myself and Edgar in 1925} (2) our third . report in the form of a thick blue book made in 1928 entitled "The Study of the Health Hazards Associated with the Distribution and Use of Ethyl Gasoline. X have only one copy of it remaining} (3) our last report In mimeograph fora, a thick brown book with a removable cover printed specifically for the use of the French Committee of Inves tigation, and entitled "An Appraisaleof the Lead Hazards Associated with the Distribution and Use of Gasoline con taining Tetraethyl Lead" The data of this article are essentially the same as those contained in the article which appeared rtith the same title in the Journal of Industrial Hygiene - March 193k* a copy of which X am \ wending you. There were in it certain additional data which have not yet appeared but which I hope to have in shape for early publication} (ij.) a blue book report entitled "An Addendum to Studies on the Absorption of Lead from Ethyl Gasoline". This latter represents additional data on animals reported on In the report which I am sending you entitled "Studies on the Absorption of Lead from Ethyl Gasolene It is quite possible that Mr. Bevan has copies of all of these. If he has not, it will be difficult to find them elsewhere. ` In any case, you will have the most important data which we 2 Dr. Dodds of the series which I am sending you. I am sending you a copy of the United States Public Health Service Bulletin No.163 which happens to be ray next to the last copy. If you find it possible to obtain a copy of this bulletin elsewhere, I would appreciate your returning this one to me at your convenience, since this one has come from our general library. Moreover, I am sending one other reprint entitled "The Behavior of Lead in the Animal Organism II Tetraethyl Lead", of which ray supply is now exhausted. This Is a reprint which you should have, but if you are able to find a copy of it elsewhere, as from Mr. Bevan* 1 should appreciate having it back, and if Mr. Sevan has any other copies of it, you might ask him to send them along to me for I do not like being out of this particular publication because of its specific relation to a problem in which a great many people are interested. The only father thing which has appeared from Washington which I am not sending you is Bulletin N0.I58 of the United States Public Health Service entitled Proceedings of a Conference to Determine Whether or Hot There is a Public Health Question in the Methods, Distri bution or Use of Tetraethyl Lead in Gasoline'.' SJhis bullet in is hard to obtain and I have only one copy. However, it contains only a few of our, at that time more or less fragmentary, data, and only a portion of the data of the Bureau of Mines which will be found in their entirety in the thick green book which I am sending you. All the rest of the Bulletin represents expressions of opinion on the part of a considerable number-.of badly informed persons. You may be interested in it as representing the start of a nasty controversy, but otherwise it is of very little consequence. I am sending you also two or three other reprints published by members of the laboratory staff which may be of interest to you.
