Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Deputy Julie Ann Bridges and Sergeant Joseph Ossman
On Sunday, September 10, 2017, Deputy Julie Ann Bridges of the Hardee County Sheriff s Office and Sergeant Joseph Ossman of the Florida Department of Corrections tragically lost their lives in a traffic accident during the preparations and response to Hurricane Irma. In honor of Deputy Julie Ann Bridges and Sergeant Joseph Ossman, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at the Hardee County Sheriff s Office in Wauchula, Florida, Hardee Correctional Institution in Bowling Green, Florida, the Florida Department of Corrections Headquarters in Tallahassee, Florida, the County Courthouse in Hardee County, Florida, City Hall in Wauchula, Florida, and City Hall in Sebring, Florida from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, September 16, 2017.

Governor Scott said, "I am heartbroken to learn o f the loss o f these two individuals in a traffic accident on September 10, 2017. Our law enforcement and correctional officers work every day to keep Floridians safe. It is because o f their work we are able to live in a state where people can raise theirfamilies safely. My heart goes out to theirfamilies and the entire law enforcement and correctional community.
