Dear Parke,
You may wish to send this letter, or a copy, to Monsanto. 1 do not know to whom the information should be sent. And it is barely possible this information is not knownto them.
In a six-page-plus, single-spaced letter dated Novembar 22nc addressed to Deans Linsley and Eivnuska of the Berkeley campus, Robert Kisebrough, a trustee or director of the Environmental
(Defense Fund, writes: "You will note in the list of publications that most of my work over the past two years has been with a class of industrial pol lutants that are now contaminating the environment and which pose a more serious long term -problem than any of the insecti
cide derivatives. One of the papers that I hope to finish this haxt week concerns their detection and identification in human milk. If these comoounas should prove narmiui to man, our marine fTBBferles will he wiped out overnlghtl Unlike the cyclamAtem;
tfe Will not be" able to take them from the shelves, since they
are everywhere. The environmental pollution problem has sudden ly become. very, serious. When the extent of environmental con tamination by these compounds becomes more generally known, there 'will be another round of hearings and requests for in-
jformation. It will probably be my luck at that time to be associated with a College of Chemical Engineering where there 7/will be political problems comparable to those I am now encount, ering inline College or Agriculture as a result of my work with I I DDT. And there will be an equivalent toDr."..."working for the l*Monsanto Company." etc.
As you know, Kisebrough has attributed the manufacture of all PCSs to Monsanto. At the Wisconsin Hearings he demonstrated close touch with English sources. The clipping from today's Chicago Tribune thus suggests material Kisebrough can be ex
pected to parrot. And he can be expected to argue that the PCBs cause the same results he has attributed to DDT.
If this is new information, I thought Monsanto would like to know.
Sincerely yours.
