Box 403 Niagara Falls, New York Dear Doctor Eddy: Thank you very much for your letter of August 20, pointing out certain criticisms of a passage in the new document on the Pneumo conioses prepared by the subcommittee of the Council on Occupa tional Health. We understand your concern and appreciate your bringing the matter to our attention. The introductory section in which the passage you refer :o ,ucurs was written by Dr. Edgar Mayer who was also chairman of hu. Committee on the Pneumoconioses. I notice that you have not sent a copy of your letter to him. It seems in order for us to call hi attention to your letter. I am therefore sending a copy of your letuu:: along with a copy of this one to him and to each of the other members of the Committee as well as to Dr. Lemuel C. McGee, the chairman of the Council on Occupational Health. I would assume that Dr. Mayer will probably correspond with you about the matter after such consultation with other members of the Committee as he considers advisable. This is a matter in which neither I nor Mr. Hames, who staffed the Committee, should of * course take any action on our own account. But we will be happy to act as a clearing house for correspondence and further informa tion if this will be helpful to the Committee in deciding what A t t e n d T h e 23r d A n n u a l AMA Co n g r e s s On Oc c u p a t i o n a l H e a l t h , Ja c k T a r H o t e l , S a n Fr a n c i s c o , Se p t e m b e r 25-26, 1963 G.
