Dear Dr. Norwood: After a slight delay occasioned by my having to be out of the Laboratory on several occasions, I am looking after the in structions in your letter of November 10, and am sending you by express the containers which you require. I think it would be wise to return the spot urine and blood samples to us by mail, and therefore, ve are preparing them so that they can be returned individually. If you wish to send them all at once, it would be better to pack them carefully, either in one package or in two or three, returning these to us by mail. I enclose herewith copies of instructions for taking large sam ples of urine, spot samples of urine, and samples of blood. Corresponding instructions will be enclosed in the package which we send to you. i l In the matter of the studying of the effects of Vitamin nC " in the case of workers in the tetraethyl lead area, some con siderable delay in the preparation of this article for publi cation occurred. However, I think it has been completed at last, and I believe Dr. Evans is submitting it to the Journal of Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology. The study of the results failed to disclose any demonstrable effects, either upon the lead excretion or upon the general health and well-being of the men. The original impression was that the men have been benefitted somewhat, but a more detailed examination of the subjective complaints during the period of study failed to disclose any demonstrable difference between the men that took Vitamin "c" and those who did not. I think this settles rather veil the question of the effects of Vitamin "C " on lead excre tion, and it coincides with our observation on. an experimental subject under carefully controlled conditions in the Laboratory.
