WILMINGTON, Del., Aug. 5 -- The Du Pont Company has announced the acquisition of Lacas y Pinturas, S.A., a Spanish industrial paint company. The firm presently has more than 300 employees and maintains manufacturing facilities at Benicarlo, approximately 150 miles south of Barcelona. Lacas y Pinturas, S.A., which was established in 1934, will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Du Pont. It manu factures a range of lacquers and enamels for industrial use, for ' ) the automotive industry, and for the refinish market, and solvents and thinners for these products. It also manufactures powder coatings. These product lines will be expanded to include special ized Du Pont paints and finishes for the Spanish and neighboring markets. Du Pont European subsidiaries operate plants for the production of paints and finishes at Mechelen in Belgium and Maersta in Sweden. In Spain, Du Pont also owns a 50 per cent interest in Desarrollo Quimicp Industrial S.A. (Dequisa), which manufactures fungicides, methylene chloride and chloroform.
