Wolber, Ethyl Corp. 451 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, La 70801 SPI-08500 1 - Chairman Adams opened the meeting by requesting that new members to the group introduce themselves. 2 - The new Bylaws that had previously been circulated to the committee were dis cussed and unanimously adopted (copy attached). 3 - Mr. Ray Abramowitz reported on the nominating committee's recommendations (attached) and the group voted unanimously to accept this report establishing the following officers and Steering Committee effective June 1, 1977. Ross Adams, Air Products & Chemicals. 4 5 - Mr. Himmelman reported the status of waivers on the VC Standard as follows: Region 1 2 3 4 5 6 9 # of Applications 2 8 6 7 6 22 4 Status Approved It tt 6 approved - 1 pending approved 10 approved - 12 being processed need additional information 1 approved He further reported that EPA indicates that waiver applications based on equiva' lences are going to Washington or RTF - none approved as far as known. 6- REDACTED SPI-08501 -4- 7- Mr. Baise reported that he had filed a Freedom of Information Act request for information that would Justify change in the present Standard. 8 - Dr. Torkelson reported on the Health Committee's activities listing the following goals: . consideration of the feasibility of epidemiology studies . establish an accurate literature base of VC health studies and reports . maintaining liaison with other groups in the U.S. and Europe . provide support to the Communication and other Committee. , cooperate with Europeans in developing protocols on human exposure. He reported that the record now shows the following count on angiosarcoma cases: Europe U.S. Canada 27 17 10 - Total 5^ 9 - Fire Safety Committee Dan Kent reported on the organization and activities of the Fire Safety Comaittee. In summary he indicated that the overall objective of the committee have been defined as follows: . Define the characteristics of FVC in fires . Develop information that will enable products to be marketed effectively and safely . Ccnmunicate information on the fire characteristics and safe use practices relating to FVC with appropriate influencials in the fire service and related fields. He reported that the major current activity involves the program to deal with the question of non-metallie conduit being further restricted by NFPA. 10 - Communications Coanittee Mr. Downey summarized the activities of the Conmunications Cornellttee as reported in the April 7 Hill & Khowlton report (copy attached). SPI-08502 -5- 11 - Mr. Todd Walker reported that the audit of the committee's activities through February has been completed (copy attached). He further recommended that the committee members be assessed for $100,000 to carry programs through May 31, 1977 and that $250,000 assessment should be made to carry the group through the first six months of the 1977/78 fiscal year (June through November) This recommendation was voted on and approved by the full committee. 12 - Mr. Savage reported that the program to prevent restrictive VC/PVC legislation from passing in New Jersey has been successful. He recommended that the committee continue to cooperate with the CIC of New Jersey to be certain that the appropriate final actions are taken. 13 - Mr. Harding reported on the reorganization of PPI pointing out the desirability of having a strong, controlled division with a smaller but effective organization.
