#699 Boards '
l ;5
During March 1973, U.S.S.-Fairless accepted to use the E.P.-5273 recipe for'their #699 boards. The production-started on Monday, March 19, 1973. The ' tool was' twice modified dimensionally.
'The'scrap rate, over a period of 21 consecutive shifts, was 4.8Z versus 4.5Z for regular Profax 31.The-scrap rate percentages were obtained from the Quality Control Department. Our Investigation in this problem showed that almost.100Z of scrap is generated by hanging rods on the dryer racks.
Green strength improvement of the E.P.-5273 recipe was tried with no success. We are still investigating the green strength improvement and/or a lubrication system for rack's rods.
#341 and #342 Boards'.
The E.P.-5273 recipe was used for an experimental run at ArmcoMiddletown. .-
The experiment was scheduled on the 'F' machine and produced 166 boards with #341 tool with a scrap rate of 10.8Z; and. 156 boards with #342 tool with a scrap rate of 18.6Z. The higher scrap rate was caused by hanging rods.
; Dimensionally these boards are smaller than our regular Profax 31 boards with 1/8" for #341 tool-rand 1/16'f for #342 boards.
During the experimental run, a slurry line blockage was reported. The slurry blocked the feed line from the holding tank to the pump after 15-20 minutesof break time. The problem is under Investigation .because no such problem occurred for six consecutive shifts on the 'K' machine.
