This is only done in a reaote area far reuoved from operations. The spraying rcdality is infrequently euployed. Then used, the operator wears a sinple dust respirator cask and works -with the wind to his back. All other personnel are prohibited in and around the area at the tine of spraying.

C. It is difficult to determine, with any decree of accuracy, the r.ost prevalent type asbestos-containing insulation aaterial used. Groat quantities of asbestos-containing natarials are used on Chynhers "erics. Thesa materials csne in any cumber of sisas, fhspos, rolls, drums, mixtures with other ncnasbeatcs-ccntainir.g natarials, wet, dry, pcudarod, paper, siding, floor covering, cloth, etc. Thus to a.cross quantity is difficult when one tries to compare. E:e type used for the insulation, its thichr.ess, handling, locals, and means of application are all factors in the assessing. Kore than one supplier is used to obtain cur natarials and ths type natarial used varies with the Chambers Worms Construction group and ths Chambers Vo ms Sngineering >2=3 group.
3ased on quantities purchased for use by the latter group during 1565 as compared with 1956, there is a distinct -over-all decrease In use in lp6 of asbestos-containing materials.
3. With a total of 1,420 wage roll asm in Class H, HI or 17, ICO are so classified for pulmonary reasons. Of this 100, two are pipeccverers. (See letter of 8/19/60.)
Since ths year 1350 through 1=56 to date, we list 1,213 employees as doceasad. Of tha3a, 130 died fron pulmonary reasons ar.d of this 130* 53 ware from carcinoma of the lung. Of the total deaths, only 5 vara ever pipacoverers. One of these insulators died listed as "cor pulmonale''--the remaining 4 ware nsnpulaonary causes.
