The abstract, in question was brought to my attention in an up-todate file which our librarian takes care of. H o w e v e r , in view of the nature of the abstract I consider it advisable to get a photo static copy of the original article for translation and examination. As" you are probably'aware, I have collected a considerable amount of information on the difficulties that have occurred in various parts of the world during the period of the war. Some of the reports are based on hearsay information, and 3ome of them are backed with reasonably satisfactory evidence. I am interested in knowing what did happen in Italy, and I should be pleased if this article were to turn out to be a reasonably good one. I suspect that it will be necessary, or at least advisable at some later date to summarize all of the available and valid information and bring the list of references up to date in a report. Certainly some of these matters may well be brought to the attention of executives of Ethyl Corpora tion in order that they may recognize that there are really rather serious potentialities which require application of good practices on the part of the distributors and users of leaded gasoline.
