In our opinion, the financial statements listed in the accompanying Index to Financial Statements present fairly the consolidated fi nancial position of Koppers Company, me. and subsidiaries at December 31. 1978 and 1977 and the consolidated results of its op erations and changes in its financial position for the years then ended in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles ap plied on a consistent basis during the period after restatement of the consolidated finan cial statements for 1977 to give retroactive effect to the change, with which we concur, in the method of accounting for leases as described in Note 5 to the financial state ments.
