III. General Information A. Clothing Wear shirts and long pants at all times. B. Smoking Smoke only in approved areas. "Strike anywhere" matches are prohibited. No smoking in stairwells, elevators, bridges and on roofs. C. Pedestrians Use walkways where provided. Do not take shortcuts through operating areas. D. Vehicles on Plant Roads All plant traffic regulations must be observed. E. Running Running is not permitted, F. Equipment Contractor shall provide the equipment necessary for safe performance of his work. All tools and equipment brought onto the site for use are subject to inspection and approval by the Rem ington Administrator. Remington equipment may be used only with approval from the Remington Administrator. H. Permission to start work Contractor shall insure that his employees are properly identified and have been instructed in the boundaries of their work areas. No work shall begin until the Remington Administrator has granted permission. I. Safety Instructions Maintain an educational program to assure the inclusion of safety instructions as a part of job assignment. |. Orderliness Scrap, trash, and other wastes go in designated 4 containers. Work areas must be cleaned up con tinually as the job progresses, with cords and hoses routed across walkways in a manner that will pre sent no tripping hazard. All materials, tools, and equipment must be stored in a stable position (tied, stacked, or chocked) to prevent rolling or falling. A safe accessway to all work areas must be maintain ed. K. Inspections A work area check is to be made daily at the beginning of each shift, to insure safe conditions*, and at the end to be sure that all flames are ex tinguished. All applicable federal, state and/or local safety codes must be followed. L. Chemicals Contractor shall insure that his employees have been informed of any hazardous chemicals present and have taken protective measures in accordance with OSHA standard 1910.1200. All chemicals for use at the plant must be approved by the Rem ington Administrator. M. Spill Prevention No oil or foreign substance may be dumped in plant sumps, trenches or sewers. IV. Personal Protection A. Head -- Scalp Approved hard hats in good condition are re- quired in all areas where overhead work is being performed. "Bump" caps are not acceptable.
