RISK/DAMAGE ASSESSMENT SUMMARY FDMS DALLAS Summarized below are the findings of the asbestos-containing floor materials found In a "limited scope" Inspection at the Pittsburg Paint Store (3500 Little York): Floor Tile Risk Assessment: Moderate Recommended Response: Because renovation activities are planned, floor tile may be covered over if done properly and not "disturbed" or rendered friable (crushable by hand pressure) in the process. Individual floor tiles are very brittle and "pop" up easily which would provide a poor base for another floor tile layer. Carpet over floor tile and mastic is only practical alternative to removal. Floor Mastic Risk Assessment: Minimal Recommended Response: Remove floor mastic only if material will be "disturbed" during renovation or demolition activities. Material is enclosed by floor tile and presents a minimal hazard to human health unless exposed. New floor covering should be applied over existing floor tile or mastic material needs to be addressed. Celling Tile Risk Assessment: Minimal Recommended Response: Some water and physical damage has occured. Recommend removal and replacement of damaged tiles. Do not allow any work (electrical, HVAC, etc.) to be performed on or above ceiling without first addressing asbestos situation. Thermal System Insulation Risk Assessment: Moderate to High Recommended Response: Fittings appear to be from connection to a hot water heater that has since been removed. Area around fittings appears contaminated from removal of heater and requires "minimization" procedures before occupancy.
