SOURCE BOOK ON ASBESTIFORM MINERALS An interesting technical booklet entitled "Fibrous Silicates" has recently been published by the Royal Institute of Chemistry/London. The author is Dr. Alan A. Hodgson, head of the Fibre Laboratory of The Cape Asbestos Company Limited/London, our parent company. Dr. Hodgson is a leading authority on asbestos fibres, and the booklet is based on a series of his lectures on the structure of asbestos and its chemical, physical, and surface properties. We will be glad to supply copies of the booklet to those interested.
FIBRE AVAILABILITY Shorter grades of Amosite continue in fairly tight supply, but an increase in output will ease the situation early in 1967. Long and medium grades are in adequate supply to meet current requirements. Crocidolite Asbestos is in good supply for all grades, except the extremely long fibre gradings used in the manufacture of textile products.

AMOSITE ASBESTOS FACT SHEET The fact sheet printed on the back page lists gradings of Amosite amphibole mineral fibres in various lengths, and indications of their end uses. In the next issue we will publish a similar list of gradings of Crocidolite and their industrial applications. Beginning with the January, 1967 issue, we will discuss in greater detail the specific appli cations and end-uses of individual gradings of Amosite and Crocidolite.
