Dear Mr# Halit X received year letter of April llt-fch concerning the f l H H p ease and idle bulky volume of testimony# I have not taken the trouble to review . the testimony in detail for the reason that X was at the trial, heard idle testimony of the two scalled experts from the University of South Carolina* and myself testified in _ some detail and in some degree in refutation of what they said. It was quite apparent that neither of the two gentle men knew anything about the subject either at first hand or from the careful examination of the available literature. This was made rather apparent* X believe* In m y testimony and X think the two gentlemen were adequately convinced themselves that they were ignorant of the matter# There was some suggestion In their testimony that one of them at least m a y have been somewhat dishonest# In any case* Dr# Kenneth Linch of the Medical Department of their University was convinced that they had made a mistake in appearing In the guise 0f experts* and I dare say he has discussed the question since with some of his associates, and perhaps with them# M y guess would be that it is quite unlikely that they would testify in the same manner if given the opportunity again# For this reason I should consider any review in detail or any criticism of their testimony at this time as having only an academic value# If the case comes up for trial again {which I should be Inclined to doubt)* It will undoubtedly be necessary for mo to appear again, in whi c h ease X shall certainly have to criticise their testimony for the benefit of Mr* Benet.
