'NELSON TROY SUBJEC / iNE & F] During my most recent visit to Fruehauf, I obtained a copy of the Pro-Par Brake Certification Statement of FMVSS 121 Dyna mometer Compliance. A copy of this statement is attached to the various copies of this memo. This is the only piece of Engineering and/or Sales literature being used by the Pro-Par Division that indicates an EE lining (MMD-39 from Carlisle) complies with FMVSS 121 at 20,000 lbs. GAWR. This has to be the information referred to in your memo that Great Dane is asking about. In explaining the above, let me refresh some memories in that the OE split between Carlisle and Abex at Fruehauf is on a fifty/fifty basis by assembly plants, export, Canada and the Pro-Par Division. It was determined that to achieve this split, Abex would take various assembly locations and would also get all the export axles and all of the Canadian axles, while Carlisle, in addition to various assembly plants would get all of the Pro-Par axles. Thus, the standard Pro-Par axles use Carlisle MMD-39. A speci fication by a customer of Pro-Par axles would be honored for Abex material, but would be the 693-551G (GG edge code) formulation. Remember that many of the smaller trailer companies purchase Fruehauf Pro-Par axles as standard practice for their use. If further information is required please do not hesitate to advise the writer.
