Kaiser Spends Million On Clean Air Campaign!
Ad Strong, ILaiser Cement plant superintendent, used color films
and graphs to tell the inspiring story of the Kaiser's relentless drive to eradicate air pollution at the Cushenbenry plant Thursday at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon at the Country Kitchen.
' Kaiser engineers have taken active steps to eradicate dust emissions, in every step of the plant's operation, ranging from the taking of raw material from the quarry to the packaging of
cement and gypsum for delivery by trucks and trains. Strong told the Chamber of Commerce members.
Currently, the engineers are working on the elimination of a
hazy steam emission that occasionally rises from a portion of the plant. The latter emission is not considered serious by the County Air Pollution officials, but Kaiser staffers are determined to eliminate this factor that shows
up on cold winter moms. Ad told the Chamber that
Kaiser has expended a million
dollars on equipment and
installation of smog-elimination
equipment at CUsheriberry. The
current program involves an
expenditure of half a million,
Strong said. Aiding Strong in his
presentation was' Jim Weening,
production manager.
