insulation Analysis for Asbestos Case 48106-3 , ** v*H'' l. ' ; Bel! Laboratories 600 Mountain Avenue Murray Hill, New jersey 07974 Phone (201)582 3000 January 14, 1980 R. E. Wenz New York Telephone 100 Garden City Plaza, Garden City, New York Room 403 11530 Mr. R. E. Wenz: The insulation sample you sent from the ceiling beams of the telephone building at 2020 Wantagh Avenue, Wantagh (3rd floor) has been analyzed for asbestos. The principal crystalline materials noted by x-ray diffraction were quartz and chrysotile. Both organic fibers and asbestiform birefringent fibers were noted when examined by polarized light microscopy. Because of the quartz particles coating the asbestiform fibers I was not able to use dispersion staining as further check for chrysotile, but all other tests showed this material contains chrysotile asbestos.
