There is still one area of -concern regarding the use of asbestos rope for gasketing material in this application. It is our understanding that the rope will be shipped in coil form. At the jobsite, the asbestos rope must be uncoiled, cut, and handled until such time as it is dipped into the red lead paint. Once the material has been dipped in the paint, all asbestos fibers should be securely bound and the material should then be safe to handle for installa tion. It is the preparation for painting which concerns us. How is it possible to uncoil, cut, and handle this asbestos rope without exposure to airborne concentrations of asbestos fibers?
