Joseph V. REDACTED Claim
Mr. Joseph V. REDACTED
was employed at our Edmonton Alberta branch for
approximately 20 years He became ill with a persistant cold in
December of 1974. He continued to work until the middle of 1975 when
he developed pain from chronic coughing at this time according to Bob Gilly of the Edmonton branch Mr. Jackson was found to be suffering from lung cancer More specific diagnosis determined that he was
suffering from asbestosis and mesothelioma Because of this the Alberta Workers Compensation Board paid compensation and later awarded his widow a 93,225.92 pension
The questions which arise are as follows
1 Did Mr. Jackson in fact suffer from asbestosis-
mesothelioma
2 If so was his exposure at our branch sufficient to produce lung cancer
3 If not our branch exposure what was his previous work history and was it possible that he had been exposed to mining milling insulation or other occupational asbestos
hazards
I would be inclined to doubt that Mr. Jackson had any significant exposure at our branch in Edmonton There is a good possibility that he worked in mining operations in that part of Canada or that he could
have worked with asbestos insulation
