In opening the meeting the chairman read a brief report vrhich had been prepared of the confer ence on asbestos problems held in Thetford Mines on June 2, 1930. This appears in full in Appendix "A". The secretary stated that a letter had been received from Mr. Spafford expressing his recret that an important business engagement prevented him from being present. Capt. Ross stated that Mr. 0. 0. Smith was out of town ana would lihev.'ise not be present, He had, however, invited Mr. E. Larochelle, Inspector of Mines. In view of the fact thet Mr. Larochelle was stationed at Thetford Mines it was agreed that the National Research Council should be ashed to appoint him to the committee.
