Vuillequez, chairman of the nominating committee for Directors, under date of March 10 has proposed -that the number of members of the Board of Directors of LIA be increased from its present maximum of 15 to a maximum of 21. This recommendation is made for a number of reasons, including the importance of having representation on the Board of all segments of the industry; for instance, the battery manufacturers are not now represented. The expansion would also provide for the possible need of seats on the Board for new domestic or added foreign producers, or domestic consumers. With certain exceptions (not involving the present case), the By-Laws of the Association can be changed at any time by vote of either the membership or the directors but the report of the nominating committee for directors will precede the April Annual Meeting of Directors at Chicago. Hence, if more than 15 directors are to be nominated on April 17. a revision of the By-Laws must be made in advance of the Annual Meeting and there is not enough time to go to the full membership.
