Pursuant to your request and that of H. H. Saum, General Attorney, area asbestos monitoring was done November 12, 1990, on the 48th floor of OSP. The purpose of the monitoring was to assess the ambient asbestos levels following plumbing work in the ceiling plenum on November 9-11, 1990. The results of the monitoring are attached. Ambient asbestos concentra tions measured below the OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.2 fibers/cc, and the OSHA Action Level (AL) of 0.1 fibers/cc. For reference, the EPA guideline level for clearance of an asbestos abatement activity is 0.01 fibers/cc.
